Syrian Fundraiser Dinner at White Point Beach Lodge, in support of Queens Refugee Care Team Location: White Point Beach Lodge (75 White Point Beach Resort Rd, White Point, NS) There is a magnificent menu! "White Point's executive chef, Alan Crosby, said it just made good logistical sense to have the dinner at the resort. "For me as a chef, what I looked at were some of the big themes," said Crosby, adding if he was going to do this, he wanted to do it well. With a bit of research, he found the cuisine to be not as heavy on beef but with plenty of grains and spices. While the style of cuisine is similar to tapas, where a dish is shared, Crosby will blend it into a multi-course service. After a sparkling wine reception, the dinner will begin with hummus with lemon oil and dukka - a mixture of herbs and spices - with flatbread and spiced crisps. This will be followed by a mezze - a selection of small dishes - with lamb kebab, roasted babaganoush and a cured olive tapenade, and a minted tomato salad. Next will be a za'atar - Middle Eastern herbs - crusted chicken supreme with jeweled Persian rice and a pomegranate and molasses reduction. To cap off the evening, dessert will be a baklava, arak scented pots du creme, and a dark chocolate and pistachio bark." --- Michael Lee for LighthouseNow, December 16/15 Tickets: $60 with a $39 charitable receipt.
